If you’re working with industrial metal roofs, chances are you might have heard about S5! clamps.

These handy little metal clamps are actually quite ingenious: they’re made in the US, imported to the UK, and designed specifically to attach various items to the seams of metal roofs.

Metal roofs often come in sections about a meter wide.

Once those sections are laid down, they’re joined together at the seams.

S5 clamps are designed to fit snugly onto those seams, and each type of clamp (denoted by different letters, such as S5-N or S5-S) is specifically tailored to a particular seam profile.

The first step is to determine the exact type of seam on your roof and match it with the corresponding S5! clamp.

We can help with that, or you can find plenty of guidance on our website or the S5! website itself.

Now, there are two main sizes: standard clamps and mini clamps.

Standard clamps are longer and have two grub screws, making them more robust for heavier loads—perfect if you’re mounting something substantial like a gangway, or even safety railings.

Standard clamps are supplied with an M10 bolt, which fits into the top of the clamp, allowing you to attach whatever you want to the clamp.

Mini clamps are slightly smaller, featuring just one grub screw and a hole on top to accept an M8 bolt. It is essential to note that the mini clamps do not come with an M8 bolt for the top.

They’re often used for lighter applications or paired with S5!’s PV kits for solar installations. This is the reason the manufacturer doesn’t supply an M8 bolt.

In essence, these clamps let you securely attach almost anything to a metal roof without penetrating it.
